Biography
John McConchie was born in 1848. He was the son of Alexander McConchie and Elizabeth Purdie.
The 1871 Census records John, aged 22, was living in Everton with his brother and sister-in-law George & Sophia Jane McConchie, and working as a railway porter[1]
On 24 December 1871 John married Emma Donkin, the daughter of Robert Donkin, in Liverpool.[2]
In 1881 John was living in Everton, Liverpool and working as a railway policeman. He lived with his wife Emma, and children Hannah (7) James (5), John (2) and George (1).[3]
In 1891 John was still living in Everton and working as a railway policeman. He lived with his wife Emma, and sons James (15), John (12) and George (11). James was working as an office boy, John as a messenger boy, and George was still at school.[4]
He passed away in 1893.
