Biography

George McConchie was born on 2 November 1842 in Kirkcudbright, Scotland. He was the son of Alexander McConchie, a woodsman,^[1] and Elizabeth Purdie.^[2]

George married Sarah Jane Garrett on 10 October 1869 at St Simon And St Jude's Church, Anfield, Merseyside. The marriage was witnessed by John McConchie (George's brother), and Emma Donkin. At the time George was working as a railway porter.^[1]

The 1871 Census records George was living in Everton with his wife (recorded as "Jane") his brother John and a lodger, Edward Lewis.^[3]

George and Sophia had two children while living in Everton, Liverpool. When Alexander was born in 1871 George was working as a railway porter.^[4] In 1974, while George was working as a bookkeeper, George was born.^[5]

George died in Kirkcudbright in 1879, aged 36.^[6]
