Freeland McConchie (also spelt McConchy, McConochie, Conchy, or Freiland Conck) was born or baptised on 6 October 1782 in Kirkcudbright, Scotland. He was the son of Robert McConochie and Jean Sturgeon.[1]
At the time of the 1841 Census Freeland (aged 55) was living in Milburn St, Kirkcudbright, with his wife Janet and his sons John (15), William (14), and George (12). He was a cotton hand loom weaver.[9][10]
At the 1851 Census, aged 69, he was still living in Kirkcudbright with Janet and working as a weaver.[11][12]
Weaver trade and parentage to Elizabeth corroborated by trials paper.
[13]
He died in Kirkcudbright in 1866.[14]
Freeland is buried at the Kirkcudbright Cemetery alongside his father, mother and son Robert. The inscription appears to read that he died in 1862, aged 90. This is at odds with the official record of death in 1866 (age 87), and his registered baptism date of 1782.[15]

Hi, I've added in James b.1817 son of Freeland and Jennet to WikiTree and also edited the text. If you had a line of reasoning and evidence to exclude him feel free to remove him (or let me know and I can). I did notice his sources on familysearch.org were not as thorough as others. (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LYJ3-BCC) but thought on burden of evidence to include.
Hi! I've also seen that James is linked in the FamilySearch tree. However the only reference given for that is the Census of 1841, where the only James listed in the household of Freeland McConchie is "James McRobert". There are 7 other McRoberts listed in the household, as well as various others, which suggests it was a multi-occupancy home shared by several families. I looked for a "James McConchie" son of Freeland, but couldn't find any references at all. I was holding off adding him until I found a better reference. I suspect he may have been incorrectly linked in Family Search.

I noticed the source #1 URL (https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results/1332701676626876de39f7) does not resolve. I got a ScotlandsPeople message: "The search you have requested has expired or does not exist. Please start a new search."
However you can use this one instead if you like which links to Freeland's birth/baptism record?: https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/record-results/2418432846628b759e51bd
