Robert was born in 1759.

Christened 2 Jan 1759, Borgue, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. ^[1]

He passed away in 1842.

Robert is buried at the Kirkcudbright Cemetery alongside his wife, son Freeland and grandson Robert. The inscription appears to read that he died in 1842, aged 92. This is at odds with his registered baptism date of 1759. It also records his wife's name as Janet Sturgeon.^[2]
