I have just added Sister Jane Mogan to my watch list and was wondering where to place her and what ODN stands for

I created a category:[[Category: Sisters of the Company of Mary Our Lady]]

I see you use sr and not Sister.  I got an "error" on one profile because my girl was known as "Sister Freda" and the errors whatever didn't like Sister in the name field.  (I think someone else fixed that one.  It was kind of before I knew how to.)
Sr was just quicker I suppose as I do have a few more like that I even put Dr rather than doctor

I have also noticed there is a limited to how many letters can go in the other box so had to list them in profiles instead
I can't remember who in the family said it was "Sister", but I prefer it so it doesn't get confuzzlicated with "Senior" or "SeƱor".

Dr I think I always write it like that as part of the person's name, but as doctor when writing about a doctor (and I dropped the fullstop so long ago I can't remember when, but I'm fairly sure it was before it was standard to do so .. I'm weird that way).  :)
If I know their "nun name" I put that in the Other Nicknames field. I have several nuns in my tree. Here's one:

Thats not weird Melanie just your way of doing things

I know how that's done, but I* feel it's ignoring that they gave up their birth names when they became a "religieuse" or a "religieux".  (I know not all orders require that now, but some do; and the farther back we go, the more likely it is that they have no contact at all with birth/blood family because their religious community has become their family.)

.

* Personal opinion, not trying to push it on anyone else.

Most also retain their legal names ...like for driver's licensing etc. I know two nuns and their "real" name is on their Indiana license. Another cousin's tombstone has her birth name and her nun name. I like to have both (if known) in order to facilitate research. I mean, the birth certs do not say "Sister" or "Reverend" so and so. lol.
I guess it depends on how long ago .. and whether they are/were cloistered.  For those who have truly and fully "given up the world", there is no other name for them except the one they take upon final vows.  So Phoebe Figalilly becomes Sister Mary Epiphania Therese (no last name).

I don't keep up with the modern traditions regards Sisterhoods, so I'm quite happy to accept it is different from the way it was .. plus different Orders do have different traditions and different places also.

I don't think most priests take new names, these days, do they?  (Most of them probably have a good Saint name taken for confirmation (if they even do THAT now).)
Most modern priests in Rom Cath do keep their birth names and even sisters are doing that, too, but as you say, it depends on their order. I'm writing profiles for mostly 19th and 20th century persons, so I realize it's probably different than earlier times.
Recently worked on some of those older ones, on census records they were only listed by their religious names, but on any legal records the whole shebang got recorded.
