Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests.
Here is my family tree.
I'm a computer programmer who has had off-and-on bouts of the genealogy "bug". My first bout was many years ago after getting my hands on some genealogical research done by my Uncle Tom Utterback in the possession of his sister, my Aunt Ruth Brown. Then recently, I got the bug again and found WikiTree, which I love. It fits right in with my programming mentality and my years of experience hand-editing/writing HTML and wiki-type pages.
In wishing to share all the family stories and articles that I'd gathered from others (and found myself), I came up with my Lathrop / Utterback Family History page, which highlights my (fairly) immediate family on my father's side from their roots in Ohio and Iowa to NM, where I grew up. In my short time looking into my family's history, I knew how quickly this type of information gets lost and forgotten. (A perfect example is my grandmother Hope A (Lathrop) Utterback - no one knows what her middle name was! Even her children didn't know (and now they're all gone)! Uncle Tom mentioned that sad fact to me after Grandma had passed - and that was just one generation away.) So that page - gathering together all the Lathrop/Utterback family information in one place - is my proudest WikiTree achievement (so far).
And now I have started the Utterback project to provide a central location for researching the Utterback name. Please join me! (If you're interested in contributing to the first four generations of Utterbacks in the US, please look over the corrections to the W.I. Utterback Book.)
For a quick look at both sides of my family tree, either use the Ancestors link above or this fan chart or this unique way of viewing the profiles of ancestors/relatives.
Relationships
My immediate family tree is here. But a fun activity on WikiTree is to discover direct (and indirect) relationships with famous people or royalty through your distant relatives. The following is a partial list of Bob's direct relationships to royalty. (To see the relationship, click the relationship name.)

For example, I traced one old ancestor to a tribe called the Iceni tribe back in 10 AD located in Britian, southwest of modern day London. When I looked them up on wikipedia, I discovered that they were fighting the Romans during that time period.
I wanted to share this, because I can tell, you enjoy finding the distant one too.
