Marguerite Porelle was born on 4 Dec 1836 and baptized on 9 Dec 1836 in Barachois, New Brunswick, the daughter of Jean Porelle and Pélagie LeBlanc.^[1][2] Her godparents were Laurent Liret and Modeste Arsenault.

Marguerite married Calixte Richard on 8 Jan 1856 in Barachois.^[3][4] Their parents were not named in the marriage record. They were both noted as being from the parish of Botsford. Witnesses were Damien Leblanc and Julie Porel (her sister).
