Biography

Pélagie was born about 1806. She is the daughter of François LeBlanc and Anastasie Bourgeois. She married Jean Porelle, son of Jean François Porelle and Mary Noils in Grande-Digue on 11 May 1829.[1]A dispensation to authorise marriage between close blood relatives was granted by Church Officials to Jean and Pélagie who were second cousins. In the 1891 census Pelagie (age 96) was a widowed domestic in the home of her grandson Martin Brun and his family in Botsford, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada.[2]

In the 1901 census Pélagie (age 105) was living with her widowed daughter Dauphine (Porelle) Brun in Botsford, New Brunswick.[3]

Pélagie passed away at about age 105 in Cap-Pelé on 10 May 1902.[4]

*Note: Stephen White estimates her date of birth to be about 1806 so her age should have been about 96 when she passed away in 1902. Her death certificate shows her age was about 105 when she passed away so this implies she would have been born in 1797 instead of 1806.
