Biography

Catherine Ovens was born in Minto Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada on 17 March 1882. She was a daughter of William Ovens and Ann Douglas Rodger. Both of her parents were born in Scotland.[1] She married Adam Douglas in Harriston, Wellington, Ontario on 4 May 1910.[2]

Cristie Ovens first appeared in the household of her father for the 1891 Census of Canada at Minto as 9 years old, born in Ontario of Scottish descent. It was noted that she was able to read and write, and was living with her parents and her siblings: Margaret, Walter, Mary and James.[3]

Catherine Ovens appeared in the 1901 Census of Canada at Minto Township, in the household of her father, as 19 years old, born in Ontario on 17 March 1881 of Scottish descent. It was recorded that she was able to read and write, and was living with her parents and her brother James.[4]

In the Canada Census 1911 at Normanby Township, South Grey County, Ontario, Kate Douglas was listed in the household of her husband Adam Douglas as 28 years old, born in Ontario on March 1883 of Scottish descent. It was reported she was able to read and write, and was living with her husband and a servant, Charles Rogers.[5]
