Biography

Harriet (McCoy) Duty lived in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Harriett was born in 1824, daughter of Daniel Effort McCoy (1790-1885) and Margaret (Taylor) McCoy (1800-bef.1868). She married Ellison Carroll Duty (1827-abt.1902) about 1845 and they had several children. She passed away in 1903 and was buried in the Varney Cemetery in Big Creek, Logan County, West Virginia, United States.

This was found during the maintenance of the Hatfield and McCoy project associated profiles. Randolph McCoy had a sister named Harriet who married a man named Ellison Duty, and the birth and death dates and spouse match, and the Find A Grave record attached to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McCoy-5479 also notes the family connection.
