David McConachy was born about 1840, reportedly at Claudy, County Londonderry, Ireland . He was the son of John McConachy and Jane McGuinnes.
David, aged two, arrived with his parents John and Jane, and sibling, Mary aged 3, in Australia at Port Phillip Bay, Port Phillip District, New South Wales onboard the Catherine Jamieson on 22 October 1841.[1]
David died on 24 June 1891 at Hamilton, Colony of Victoria, Australia[2]. Family history remembers that, whilst working as a butcher, David was bitten by a pig, his wound became infected with tetanus and he died at the Hamilton Hospital. He was buried at the Hamilton Cemetery on 27 June 1891[3].
