A former well-known Albury business man who was manager of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society office here for 13 years, 'Mr. Harold Frederick
Johnson, of Downside st., died in the Mercy Hospital yesterday. He had been in ill-health for six years. The late Mr. Johnson, who was 72 years of age, was born at Goulburn where his father was postmaster. Later, when the family
moved to Maitland, Mr. Johnson joined the staff of the Bank of NSW in that town and eventually rose to managerial office. After over 20 years' service with
the bank, and when manager of the Gilgandra branch, Mr. Johnson resigned
and became NSW country representative of the CML. He was appointed manager of the Aibury office in 1934 and had lived here ever since. After 25
yeans in the service of the-society, he retired in. May, 1947. Soon after his arrival in Aibury Mr. Johnson was madea member of Aibury Rotary Cluband for a term held office as president. On his reirement from active business he was made a life member of the club in appreciation of his services. A keen bowler, he was a member and past president of Albury Bowling Club, and it was during his term of office that the club acquired additional land for extension of the greens. During the years of World War II, Mr. Johnson' took a keen and active
interest in patriotic movements and he was secretary of the Aibury War Loans' Committee. One who was highly respected by all who knew him, Mr. Johnson
was of a kindly disposition and always had a cheerful word with which to greet his fellow men. no matter in what station, of life. He is survived by his widow, one son, Mr. Frederick Johnson, Aibury, and two daughters, Betty (Mrs. J. B. Barker, Jingellic) and Nancy (Mrs. J. J._ Vile, Aibury). After a service commencing
at 9 a.m. today at St. Matthew's Church, his remains will be taken to Melbourne for cremation at Fawkner crematorium. Lester and Son are, the funeral -directors.
