Biography

Rachel was born in 1838. She is the daughter of Thomas Jago and Jenny Salter.

She married john Oliver Kernick in Nov. 1859. They lived on Downing St. in Bodmin.

She works as a dressmaker, upholstress, seamstress.

Her brother Richard Jago, a tailor is living with them for the 1871 census.

In 1901 she is living alone and a seamstress and by 1911 she has retired and has her grandson John Oliver Kernick age 9 living with her. The 1911 census says she had 10 children with 7 still living.

She died Dec. 1919 at the age of 84 and living in Berry Tower House, Bodmin.

They had 10 children but only 7 lived past infancy:

Henry born 1870

Frederick born 1872

Mildred born 1880

Mildred was born Jan.-Feb.-March 1880 so could not be John Kernick's daughter . I can't find any information about her father.
