Biography

Bailey, born abt 1730, is the son of Daniel and Martha Jackson. He was born in Pasquotank NC, where his family had lived for several generations. Bailey and Miriam, married abt, 1763 and had at least six children. Mentioned in Baliley's Will are children: John, Mary Scott, Susannah Willcocks, Peggy Morgin, Lemuel Jackson, and Arthur Jackson.^[1]

Bailey Jackson served as the Town Commissioner of Redding in 1794, and then as NC State Representative of Pasquotank in 1795. ^[2] He also served in the 1755 NC militia,^[3] was a Justice of the Peace in Redding, and served as a senator for two years.^[4] Bailey died in 1814 in Pasquotank.

The Will of his father Daniel, describes the 700 acre parcel of the family estate,that Bailey inherited, in 1756, as south of the Taylor Property in the headwater area of Knobs Creek Southern branch, the Rum Quarter area.^[5]
