Lt. Col. David L. Evans (U.S. Army Ret.), 52, of 704 Wellington Way, Lexington, Ky., a former Scranton resident, died Saturday in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C. He was the husband of the former Marguerite Flanagan.
Born in Scranton, he was a son of Mrs. Gwen Lewis Evans and the late Thomas J. Evans. A veteran of World War II, he retired in 1962 after 20 years of service. He served in Germany, the Far East and in Okinawa. He was an alumnus of the Wharton School of Finance and was employed at American Mutual Insurance Co., Lexington.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas, Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Miss Mary Evans at home; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Henneforth, Glenside, Pa., and Mrs. Thomas Baxter, Lafayette Hill, Pa.; one niece and a nephew.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Davies & Jones Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Ave., with services by Rev. William P. Lewis, pastor, Jackson Street Baptist Church.
Interment, Washburn Street Cemetery. Viewing, today, 7 to 9 p.m.[2]
