Biography

He was baptized on 17 Feb 1884 at Sacred Heart, Liverpool, Lancashire.

He married about the same time as his father died, and he and his wife were independent bird dealers. However, after he arrived in Canada, he was initially a news agent.

He arrived in Canada in May 1911 on the Tunisia, and went to join his siblings who had come earlier. It appears his wife and young son did not accompany him until later.

He was living in Canada in 1911, with his brother John and sister Alice. The 1911 census suggests he was already married, and had arrived in Canada in 1911, but his wife (Ada) was not listed at the address where he boarded with the Mayne family.

He worked as a letter carrier with the Post Office from at least 1913 until 1938.

• In 1912, he was living with his family and the Maynes at 1248 Seymour St.
• Then a couple of years at 1833 W. 3rd and a then to 2117 W. 6th Ave.
• In 1921-1922, he was living at 2345 W. 8th Ave.
• In 1923, he lived over the Arbutus Grocery at 2200 Arbutus, possibly until 1927.
• From 1928, he lived at 3016 W. 13th Ave until he died

Research Notes

I had earlier written that, "He was living in Canada in1908, with his mother "Julia", his brother John, and sisters Alice and "May". "

• However, there does not seem to be a supporting source for this. The 1911 UK and Canada census and other documents suggest that Julia and May only left Liverpool in October 1911, and several documents confirm that Thomas left the UK in May, 1911. (The transcription suggests 1904 but the writing is very unclear, and 1911 is certainly possible.)
