Biography

Willem Bogardus Son of Everardus Bogardus and Anneke Jans

The vast majority of people bearing the name of Bogardus are descended from the Rev. Everardus Bogardus, the minister of the Dutch Reformed Church in New Amsterdam, who came from Holland in 1633 with Governor Wouter Van Twiller. The church in which he preached stood at what is now No. 33 Pearl Street, and his residence was at No. 23 Whitehall Street. [1]

He married the widow of Roeloff Jansen, the famous Anneke Jans, and had children: [1]
