Here's brick wall #2:

Old Jesse Kerr, so called to differentiate him from the many Jesses to follow, was born 25 Dec 1790, supposedly in Greene County, Tennessee (wasn't that still part of NC at the time?). One Kerr researcher sent me this many years ago (unsourced): "Jesse Kerr came from Greene County Tennessee, to Sevier, then Blount (Loudon) County in 1806 (or 1818).  Settled in Greenback, Blount County.  This area changed to Loudon County in 1872.  Came with brother David, who settled on Nine Mile Creek, Blount County.  The two brothers married two sisters, Sarah and Polly Miller, daughters of Cornelius Miller."

In the 1860 Federal Census for Blount County, Tennessee, Jesse was living next to his son, G. C. C. Kerr. The value of his real estate was $15,000 and his personal estate was worth $62,825. He was listed as a farmer

He served in the War of 1812, but when he was in his eighties he applied for a pension, it was denied due to his strong Rebel sympathies.  At one time he owned the Allegheny Springs property where he erected a few cabins.  A later owner built the large hotel there.

I've noticed that some Kerrs hung out with the Finleys and Pattersons and Jesse's lineage may have come form the same area in which these families were located in Virginia earlier.

I'm still working on his profile and have only one son listed, though I have the names of others and just haven't profiled them yet. I don't know hjis wife's parents either!

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! (Sorry for the all caps... i'm desperate!)
