So I'm looking for orphaned profiles with the surname of Allen to source, since my great great great grandmother Caroline Slade's maiden name was Allen, and I come across the record for Charles Allen, who was married in Shoreditch in 1773. Since Caroline was born in Shoreditch in 1819, the thought strikes me that there's a better than usual chance that they were related somehow. But the sources I have access to can't fill in the crucial missing links. From Caroline's christening record, I know her father's name was James, but I haven't been able to find any link between James and Charles. Is there anybody familiar with 18th-19th century records in London/Middlesex who might be able to shine some more light on this?
