Thank you for the calendar of activities for next month Eowyn.  It is winter here in this far north of the hemisphere, I look forward to participating.

The US Black Heritage Project will have two weekend sprints this month:

  • Oct 13-15: USBH Weekend Sprint sourcing profiles from the USBH Needs Sources maintenance category
  • Oct 27-29: USBH Weekend Sprint creating profiles for families from the 1880 census in nine western states (Nevada, Dakota Territories, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico).
These are open to all WikiTreers, not just project members. Hope many of you will join us!

What does "Black Heritage" cover? Maori, Polonesian or just African-American????????

The US Black Heritage project just covers African American families. I'm not that familiar with WikiTree work on Maori and Polonesian families, but I think they would be covered by geographic teams for the countries they live in. It looks like the New Zealand Project needs a leader for their Māori of Aotearoa team and the Australia project has an Indigenous Australians team - those teams might be closer to what you're looking for. I'm not sure if there are any teams covering other places that would have Polonesian families.

FYI: We are currently developing an Oceania Project which will cover all of the dozen or so Pacific Island nations aside from Australia and New Zealand. Watch for it as part of our upcoming Global Project.

What is a Saturday Sourcing Sprint? does it have to be profiles that have the "unsourced" in its profiles??
by Ruth Ogilvy G2G6 Mach 2 (29.5k points)
Hi Ruth,

This page is from last week's sourcing sprint, but explains what the sourcing sprint is:

If you want to participate, Wendy or Debi will put up a new post for this week later today where you can register
