The One Million Member Pool: When Will We Cross One Million Members? [closed]

Hello there!

As some of you may have noticed, we are rather close to crossing one million WikiTree members! This post serves as a place for existing members to GUESS when we will cross that threshold. As of 12:25 am UTC 26 Apr 2023, we have 997,020 individuals signed up as members.

Place your estimations below, down to the minute, seeing how close we are. The metrics should allow us to see when this threshold is crossed. Who knows maybe there will be a prize or something. :)

Good luck!

Who will it be and when will it be!
Yes, Jim. I was aware of that. We wanted to take this a step further. :)
I wonder what the split is between active and inactive members. However, before we can answer that, the criterion for “active” needs to be established.

Great post, Steve! Eowyn, let's give a WikiTree t-shirt or coffee mug to whomever guesses the closest (if posted, say, a week or more before it happens), and to the member who is #1,000,000.

And a Wikitree t-shirt and coffee mug to the one millionth!
My suspicion is that there are more inactive members than active members. Inactive members would be those who originally signed up and initially posted a few profiles, but then stopped posting because they lost interest and/or found the WT posting process to be too difficult.

I'll throw out a guess, but will not officially participate as a potential prize winner.

@David Chawes - see this post by Chris.

Should we have weekly updates as to new members?

The splash page shows a daily (at least) update. This is what is there right now:

Our tree includes 34,244,715 profiles (11,500,921 with DNA test connections) edited by 997,676 members from around the world.

We're at 998,188.  I think we're within the 1 week mark.

May the Fourth be with you.
It looks like this is over now and I was 57 minutes off.  Has anyone else gotten closer?
whst time did it happen and who was closest?

7 PM Jun 18, 2023- I'll go as far to say they will be a cousin of mine. Besides, it would make a great 40th anniversary gift, she doesn't like rubies.

I am going with June 6 at noon.

Both great grandsons born that day 3 years apart - must be good luck.
