Good luck with this project Lorraine!  I'm getting a head spin just looking at the spelling variants.

I have 3 or 4 of them just within 3-5 degrees of me.  I've read there are 42-52 variants but I also realized last year that spelling wasn't so exact not that long ago; that many of my family, just a few generations ago, had little or no education and that most documents are not written or signed by the person but by some official.  I've been keeping my eye out for actual signatures and collecting them.
