George Henry Raymond Watson was born on 5 January 1895 and was baptised "George Henry" on 3 March 1895 at St Paul, Hammersmith, Middlesex, England.[1][2] His parents were Henry James Watson, a blacksmith, and Emily Mary Snart, and they lived at 115 Brook Green at the time of the baptism; they had married on 4 March 1894, at Islington.[3][4]
The family were living at Stoke Newington at the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses.[5][6]
Marriage: George Henry Raymond Watson married Mary Carmen Frances Lewis (1894–1980) on 1 November 1915 at St Faith's Church, Stoke Newington, in London, England, by licence. The marriage register recorded that George was living at 225 Albion Road, he was a bachelor, age 22, occupation "on HMS", and his father was "John Scott Watson (deceased) Major"; Mary was 21, a spinster of 158 Albion Road, and her father was Charles Lewis "on HMS", [7]
Immigration: On the Jervis Bay which departed 7 Aug 1928 from London, England. The passenger list has Raymond Watson, age 39, occupation "agent", his wife Mary C F Watson, age 33, and their children Joan M M and Anthony R. [8]
Death: George Henry Raymond Watson died in 1985.[9]
At the time of his marriage, George Henry Raymond Watson gave his father's name as "John Scott Watson (deceased) Major". This contradicts his birth and death records.
