Biography

Hugh was born about 1779, the first child of Evan and Mary at Cwmclys, Llanwnog.

Hugh married Margaret Owen. The banns were read on 20 May 1801 in Llanwnnog, Montgomeryshire, Wales.

When son Richard was born, Hugh`s address was given as Cryniarth, Uwch Coed in Llanwnog. This was a farm about a mile north west of Cwm clys. By 1814 however, the children were being born at Scubor Fach (the Small Barn), part of the Trawsgoed estate near Carno. Also noted on some of the baptism entries was Hugh`s work as a weaver.

On the 1841 Census Hugh, Margaret and their youngest daughter, Margaret, are living at Cefn Howell in Carno, next on the census to Frankwell. It is possible that Cefn Howell was another name for Ysgubor fach at Trawsgoed. The 1851 census and Hugh's burial entry in 1853 both state Scybor Fach as residence.

In the 1851 census Hugh (age 72) was the head of household in Montgomeryshire, Wales.

Hugh died in about 1853 and was buried on 9 February 1853 in Llanwnnog, Montgomeryshire, Wales.
