E. Swain,.,

My 3 times Great Grandfather was John Cullen, He was born about 1790 in either County Laois, Ireland our Courtstown,Tullaroan Parish, Kilkenny, Ireland, He married Catharine Fitzpatrick 1793–1887 BIRTH 26 APR 1793 • Ballyroe, Freshford, Kilkenny, Ireland DEATH 11 JUN 1887 • Courtstown, Tullaroan, Kilkenny, Ireland They were married on the 20th Jan 1821 in Freshford, Kilkenny, Ireland

The following is a brief note o them from Dennis Cullen

From Denis Cullen John Cullen and Catherine (nee Fitzpatrick0 who were married on the 20th January 1821 and they lived in Kilnaree and afterwards in Ballyroe from at least 1826. The connections of the Fitzpatricks with Ballyroe can be followed back to 1777 when Catherine Fitzpatrick married James Grace on October 15th. A Catherine Fitzpatrick was baptized on the 16th May 1787 and her parents were John Fitzpatrick and Nelly Gleason. Another Catherine Fitzpatrick was baptized on the 26th of April 1793 and her parents were Michael Fitzpatrick and Bridget Dunne of Ballydanioel, that Catherine might be the same girl who married John Cullen in 1821 and if my belief that they were the parents of great-grandfather James Cullen is correct then that extends our known family back to 1793 which bring us back six generations which by the accepted definition constitutes a family tree.
