Beatrix Smith was probably born in ca 1657, assuming that she was aged 20 when she married Nicol "Selcret".
On 02 May 1677, she married Nicol Selcret (Selkirk) (born ca 1657) in Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland. She was living in the parish of Haddington on 23 March 1677 when their banns were proclaimed. [1]
She had only one known child with Nicol Selkirk, a son named William Selkirk (baptised 03 February 1678).
It is possible that she may have died giving birth to William Selkirk as there are no other known children, but there is no record of her death, so she may have lived for some considerable time after the event.
Beatrix Smith was the great (x5) grandmother of Robert Flockhart Vickers, who was executed by hanging in Calton Prison, Edinburgh on the 16th of December, 1883, for his part in the deaths of two gamekeepers, John Fortune, and John MacDiarmid.
