Daniel, son of Angus McDonnell and Annie Gillis, was living with his parents and siblings in 1901 at age 13. His birth date has been taken from this 1901 Census of Canada in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. [1]
By 1911, Dan was no longer living with the family. Given the number of Daniel McDonalds, and the lack of parents' names on most marriage records, it has been difficult to determine where Dan wound up.
Research Notes
If Daniel's name was recorded as MacDonell, was he a railway station master in Landis, Battleford, Saskatchewan?
If Dan's name was recorded as McDonald, we will probably never find him. There were countless numbers of Angus and Ann McDonalds in Canada and more than one pair in Nova Scotia at the time.
