Alifair McCoy is Notable.
Alifair McCoy was [1]born June 10, 1858 in Pike, Kentucky, United States, the daughter of Randolph "Ranel" McCoy, Sr. and his wife, Sally McCoy. Alifair was crippled from polio as a child.
Alifair was shot and[2] killed in the Hatfield-McCoy "New Years Day Massacre" on January 1, 1888 in Pike County Kentucky, United States when the Hatfield clan retaliated against the McCoys. Jim Vance, uncle of Devil Anse Hatfield led the 1888 New Year’s Day arson attack on the McCoy family cabin, that resulted in the death of Calvin and Alifair McCoy, the grown children of Randall McCoy. Jim Vance bludgeoned Randall’s wife Sally McCoy with a rifle butt as she tried to reach her dying daughter, Alifair. Sally was badly injured she suffered several broken ribs and skull fractures.[3]
