Biography
Geneviève, the daughter of Pierre Martin and Marguerite Giroux was born 15 June 1773 and baptized the following day. The Saint Laurent parish register identifies her as "Genevieve née d'hier fille de Pierre Martin Ladouceur et de Marguerite Giroux son épouse. Parrain Pierre [Gredon?], parrain Josette Martin Ladouceur."[1]
On 21 January 1799, she married Nicolas Deguire. The Saint Laurent parish records state that the marriage was between "Nicolas Deguire, fils majeur de Nicolas Deguire habitant, et Marie Amable Boucher de cette paroisse d'une part, et Géneviève Martin, fille majeur de Pierre Martin, habitant, et Marguerite Giroux, aussi de cette paroisse d'autre part, . . . . en présence de Nicolas Deguire, père, François Deguire frère de l'époux, et Pierre Martin père, Pierre Martin frère de l'épouse."[2]
Geneviève died 6 April 1826 in Saint Laurent and was buried the following day: "Genevieve Martin "décédée avant hier agée de cinquante cinq ans environ femme de Nicolas Deguire dit La Rose laboureur de cette paroisse."[3]
