I am very confident that the details on this person are 100% correct despite the apparent discrepancy.
I have a copy of her birth certificate and this has checked out.
I, also, tracked her on 1841,1851,1861 census living with parents then 1871,1881,1891,1901& 1911 once married at Janet Paton. Her address on 1911 census was 32 Orchard street, Galston Ayrshire.
I have a copy of death certificate which lists address as 32 Orchard street, Ayrshire died aged 77 recorded by her son Daniel.
I have researched Orchard street a lot as my family lived in the street for over 100 years. She is listed at 32 Orchard street in 1901 census but the numbers often changed as houses added to street etc.
I have come to conclusion that DOB is correct and that her son or registrar mis-recorded her age of death on the death on certificate as all the ages on the census tally with 1834 DOB & birth certificate.
Hope this explains this one.
Please note that I do intend to add all census records and sources but most of my data is on Ancestry at the moment and as you know it takes time to record all the additional sources I have. I have registered for the Scotland Project and will go back over all my records and add sources in coming winter once I know how to do it as Wiki protocols. Last time I checked the project / course is still being updated so have not been sent any modules.
I do geneology as my winter project so will be updating as soon as Modules available etc
Yes, from experience, when it's a son giving info, he often doesn't get ages and such correct whereas I have found that daughters remember things more precisely :)
I read this after I posted my message for Catherine Goudie and realize you're still working on this and will add things in the winter and I look forward to it.
The Janet Paton who died in 1919 - her ScotlandsPeople record says she was 77 at the time making her birth about 1842 -- that seems "off" compared to Janet's 1834 birth / baptism??
