My father was Syer Sylvester Caudill, Sr. He liked to tell stories. This is his memory as best I can tell it. For a time Sy's grandparents lived with his family. (This is supported by the 1920 census.) His grandmother was short, red haired and often ill tempered. One day Sy heard her yell, he looked up to see that she was bent over a trunk and trapped. The trunk lid had fallen shut. Perhaps because she was short, she had been knocked off her feet and could not get the trunk lid off of her body. Sy, knowing her temper, ran away instead of helping his grandmother. He was sure that he would be blamed for the mishap. Provided by Mariea13
