Biography

Birth
Jane Cadwallader Johnson was born 22 June 1886 at Colonia Diaz, La Ascencion, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her parents William Derby Johnson Jr and Lucy Elizabeth Brown had relocated to this foreign location in order to help establish this particular LDS settlement in northern Mexico; the purpose being to leave the United States and its newly established federal laws against polygamy. Her father had three other concurrent wives.

Marriage and Children
At age twenty on 20 June 1906 in Colonia Diaz, Chihuahua, Mexico Jane married Joseph Hyrum Parry. Their marriage took place before the events leading up to the Mexican Revolution. The Poncho Villa raids preceding the full scale war destroyed the town in 1912. The marriage is recorded in the Utah state vital records which are a replacement of the destroyed Colonia Diaz recordings.

At the time of this writing the known children of Jane and Hyrum are listed along with their six children's birth towns which is a significant reflection of the relocation efforts made by their parents after the 1912 Colonia Diaz tragedy:

Death
Based upon the records trail Jane and Joseph remained in Salt Lake City the remainder of their lives after the birth of their last child Viola. Jane lived a long life outliving her husband by twenty years and passed away on 6 November 1969. She was buried on 10 November 1969 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA.
