Biography

David was born in 1850. He grew up in Hamilton Township, Pennsylvania with his parents Benjamin and Nancy and siblings Frances, Rachael, Benjamin, Mary, Rebecca, and James.[1][2]

In 1883, he married Ida May Hall in Fayette Township, Iowa.[3] They had six children together:

  1. Coyle (b. 1884)[4]
  2. Benjamin Newlin (b. 1886)[5]
  3. Arthur Kirkwood (b. 1891)[6]
  4. Grace Elberteen (b. 1893)[7]
  5. Alice (b. 1895)[8]
  6. Ida May (b. 1899).[9]

In 1900, the family lived in Otter Creek Township, Iowa.[10] In 1910, the family lived in Coolidge, Kansas.[11]

In 1920, David lived with his son Arthur in Holly, Colorado.[12] He passed away there in 1923 and was buried at Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville.[13]

Johnson, now of Marion Iowa, a former resident of the county, and a son of Mr. Benjamin Johnson of Hamilton township. The Marion Register say's "the ceremony was performed in the presence of a large circle of the bride's relatives and fiends. After the marriage a bountiful repast was partaken of when the couple left on the southern train. They propose to make Marion their future home".
