Biography

Minnie Jakes, daughter of Samuel Jakes and his wife Hannah Raynor, was born on 19th January 1885 at Bell Block near New Plymouth in Taranaki, New Zealand.^[1] FamilySearch also has a record of her birth from earlier microfiched Birth Registrations, which reads: "Minnie Jakes, born in Bell Block, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand on 19 January 1885 to Samuel Jakes and Hannah Raynor".

On 28th March 1906 Minnie married Lewis Henry "Harry" Baldwin Lander, probably in New Plymouth.^[2] Harry and Minnie … who was almost 15 years younger than her husband … are known to have had at least six children.
