Margaret Jackson was born about 1746 in Ireland, daughter of Joseph Edward Jackson (~1690–~1765) and Mary Carr (1724– ).

Margaret married William McCaughey (born about August 29, 1745 in County Kerry, Ireland; son of Joseph McCaughey and Janet (Irons) McCaughey). Their daughter was Janetta McCaughey (~1772–~1847).

Margaret died about 1839 in Belmont, Ohio, United States, aged 92.
