The names were written on the back of a printed sheet for state census returns, and the categories for age were not included, but are inferred by the columns on the following page. Aged 30 in 1880, Scott Crockett was a black laborer in Beat 1, Claiborne, Mississippi. His mother Martha Hicks or Hooks was head of household; she was age 45, b in Miss. Martha's daughter Ida Crockett was age 13. Martha Crockett was age 1. Creasa Crockett, Scott's wife, was age 30. Alex Jones was age 4; he was listed as Martha's son also.[3]
Aged 50 in 1900, Scott Crockett was head of household in Beat 1, Claiborne, Mississippi. His wife Creasy was b Aug 1861; they had been married 23 years. Their daughter Mary Jane was age 16 b June 1884. Their son David was age 10, b March 1890. Scott's mother Martha Hicks was age 70, widowed, b Sep 1829 in Virginia.[4]
