John Jackson was born to unknown parents, likely in England, before 1636.[1] John settled in Lancaster County, Virginia Colony, by 1656, as evidenced by the fact the county taxed him based on his labor force, assessing him for two tithables, 5 Nov 1656,[2] for two tithables, 16 Dec 1657,[3] again for two tithables, 31 Oct 1658,[4] for four tithables, 30 Nov 1659,[5] and for three tithables, 15 Nov 1660.[6] John married a woman named Anne. John died before 11 Sep 1661, on which date at the request of Anne his wilkl was probated in Lancaster County.[7].
↑ He would have been at least 21 in 1656 when he was assessed for taxes.
