Well, based on the sheer number and strength of DNA matches, I am back to thinking this Willie May Jackson might indeed have been the daughter of Samuel Melton Jackson, Jackson-53093. The 1880 Census shows a son, Willie, and of course the 1890 was unfortunately lost. But if that child was mismarked and was a daughter, then she is almost certainly her. Obviously, I will not set her as his daughter without some more primary documentation, this being a Mayflower lineage.

I think I understand why some thought this Willie May Jackson was a descendant of Daniel Jackson and Zelphia Melton. I see records that their son, Daniel Jackson, Jackson-42846, appears to have had a son named Daniel Jackson about 1851, who had a son named Darling Jackson, about 1874, and he had a daughter named Willie May Jackson, about 1906. She was definitely not my great grandmother, but the name is a bit unusual and this likely sparked confusion from other relatives.

A number of sources had this Willie Mae (May) Jackson as daughter of a Samuel Jackson who was the son of William Melton Jackson Jackson-19739. I am fairly certain at this point that this is incorrect. His son Samuel had a son named Willie, not a daughter. At this point I must re-evaluate Willie Mae’s parentage. Since the records in many sources are unconvincing, I am limiting evidence to only official census, birth, death and similar records. For now, I have removed both parents until such time as I find something better or someone can provide at least a family Bible or something.
