Biography

Kindred Jacks was a Georgian.

Kindred Jacks lived in Wilkes County, Georgia.

Marriage

Kindred Jacks married at least twice. First to Lucinda Fambrough, 15 Dec 1836.[1][2]

Kindred married next Eliza A. Daniel, widow of William H. Daniel, who died about 1837. Kindred petitioned the court for a lawyer to help with the administration of the estate of Eliza Daniels and the children, Martha Ann, John W., Oscar M, & William H. Daniel.[3][3][4]

By 6 Apr 1841 Kindred Jacks is the guardian for his minor step-children.[5] However in 1842 Eliza Jacks was still petitioning for guardianship of her children, Martha A. Daniel, John W. Daniel, Oscar M. Daniel, and Wm H. Daniel.[3][6]

Although he had asked for a different administrator due to the squandering of the estate of William Daniel, it seems the court must have allowed Kindred Jacks to participate in the administration. However, most likely after the death of Kindred Jacks, D W McJunkin continued as administrator over the William Daniel estate until it was complete in 1851.[7]

In 1840 the census shows Kindred Jacks in Wilkes County, Georgia. He has 3 boys and 1 girl, aside from he and his wife listed on the census.[8]

  • 1835 Clark County, Georgia taxes, listed as having 75 acres.[9]
  • 1837 Clark County, Georgia, where he is listed next to Isaac Jacks, living on land granted to him in Clark County (acreage not specified), and he has 2 taxable enslaved persons.[10]


By 1840 Kindred is listed in Wilkes County, Georgia, on the tax rolls.[11]

  • 1841 the Daniel children are listed with Kindred Jacks on the tax rolls.[12]
  • 1842 taxes Wilkes County, the Daniel children and their enslaved are listed under his name[13]

Death

Kindred Jacks passed away about 1846. James R. Snow(sp?) applied to administrate and sell estate of Kindred Jacks.[14]

Slaves

Kindred Jacks administered the estate of the Daniel children, which included the enslaved.[6] The 1840 census shows 12 enslaved persons ascribed to his name.[15]
