Hi Pam,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag United_States will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Congratulations, you've been a member for a month!

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, Merging, Templates and Volunteer Opportunities!

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

Try our Relationship Finder! It searches 20 generations. If you find a duplicate profile, the other managers are probably related. You can use this to find out how!

Hi Pam,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Thank you, Pam, for volunteering to help grow our FREE worldwide family tree. It's great you found us. :)

Our Honor Code, G2G message forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.

As you know by the statement you made: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

Our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please try very hard not to add any duplicates to our shared tree.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!

I am a firm believer in free genealogy, research and sources. I have built several public trees on Ancestry and have an "on again/off again" membership to take advantage of records that they make available on that site. I do a lot of "googling" and subscribe to "Newspaper Archives". I love the "thrill of the hunt". I found WikiTree by accident but I'm all for anything that gets the information out completely free of charge so hopefully more "long lost relatives" will find it. I also have a few brick walls that I am hoping someone here might be able to help me with. I would love to be able to connect the trees that I have built to each other. I am a firm believer in documentation and that is why multiple separate trees........for now.
