Biography
Roland Evans, 81, passed away peacefully on 23 September 1917 at Martinsburg, Lewis, New York. He was born on 4 May 1836 at Carmarthenshire, Wales and married Sophronia Root in about 1857. She died in 1864. Then in 1865, he married Mary Peebles.
Mr. Evans was survived by: his children, Minnie F. (Evans) Shevalier, b. 1870; Lydia A. Evans, b. 1873; Miller Benedict Evans, b. 1876; Fay Evans, b. 1878; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; first wife, Sophronia, 1837-1864; second wife, Mary (Peebles) Evans, 1841-1917; and children, infant, McClellan S. Evans, 1867-1867; infant Freddie P. Evans, 1868-1869; and infant, Freddie L. Evans, 1872-1872.
Roland is buried at the Martinsburg Cemetery, Martinsburg, Lewis, New York. [1]
