Biography

Birth

Matthias was born to Richard and Mary Evans in Dorchester on February 11, 1643-44, ^[1]

Marriages

Matthias married (first) Patience Mead in Dorchester on April 6, 1669^[2]

Patience died in Dorchester on May 22, 1670, eleven days after the birth of their son Matthias.^[3]

He then married Susannah Ellis, probably by 1673 when his daughter Susannah was born. ^[4]

He/they removed to Susannah's home town of Medfield about 1679. There he pursued his trade of housewright. ^[5]

Children

Matthias had, in Dorchester^[6][7]

• Matthias, b. May 11, 1670, m. Sarah Smith in Nov. 1701
• Susannah, b. August 10, 1673, no further record yet found. She apparently died before her brother Ebenezer, as she was not included in the disposition of his estate.
• Hannah, b. 22 August 1678, m. William Allen, May 16, 1705
• Ebenezer, b. Jan 21, 1679-80, died in Medfield 20 Feb 1717-18, apparently unmarried, estate distributed to mother, brother Matthias, and sister Hannah.^[5]

And in Medfield:^[8]

• Ikabod, b. Aug. 15, 1682, died three days later
• john, b. Aug. 22, 1683, died nine days later

Removal to Medfield

He/they removed to Susannah's home town of Medfield about 1679. There he pursued his trade of housewright. ^[5]

Death

Matthias died in Medfield on 6 November 1684. His widow Susannah lived on for 40 years, dying in Medfield 24 Aug 1724 ^[9]

Richard Evans (1614-1661) and his wife Mary had (among others) these sons:

Each of these brothers had a son Mathias:

• Mathias son Matthias Evans (1670-1725)
• Richard son Matthias Evans (abt.1682-1751)

• Richard's son Mathias had a son Mathias born in 1713.
