He arrived in America about 1840. ^[2]

Civil War Service

He enlisted on Nov 2 1863, age 36 (AKA "William Jones"). He mustered as a Private in Company M, Ohio 6th Cavalry Regiment on Dec 27 1863 at Camp Cleveland, Ohio. He mustered out on 08 Jun 1865 at Petersburg, VA. by order of the War Dept. ^[3],^[4]

He married widow (I have not located any info that Mary Ann ever married Gayus' father, or who the father wasRushforth-28 22:18, 29 October 2015 (EDT)) Mary Ann (nee Cook) Allen about 1867 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, USA^[2] . She had a young son. In 1870 they lived in Milton, Mahoning, Ohio, where George was a teamster.^[5]

In 1880 & 1900 George was a laborer in Palmyra, Portage, Ohio. ^{[1] [2]}

He filed for an invalid's pension on Apr 18 1890 which was approved. (Cert # 627449.) His wife filed for a widow's pension on Dec 11 1901 which was approved. (Cert # 537117.) ^[6]

He died on Nov. 10, 1901, in Palmyra, Portage County, Ohio^[7][8]
