Michael was born on February 6, 1871 in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. Michael was the son of Thomas Boyle and Rose (Knowles) Boyle.
For Michael's first 25 years, or thereabouts, he lived in Clinton County, New York, living most or all of those years in the City of Plattsburgh. On June 30, 1896, at the age of 25, Michael married Elizabeth Murtagh/Murtha in the Village of Rouses Point in Clinton County. Rouses Point is a small village that lies on the western shore of Lake Champlain, just a mile south of the U.S./Canadian border.
In 1900 we find that Michael and Elizabeth, and their two year-old son Michael, Jr. were living in St. Albans, Franklin County, Vermont. St. Albans, Vermont is on the east side of Lake Champlain, across the Lake and about 15 miles east/northeast of Plattsburgh, New York. By 1910 the Boyle family of three were living on William Street in the city of Rochester, New York. Then in 1920 we find the family in Detroit, Michigan.
From various records we know that Michael worked as a barber, seemingly all of his adult life. Michael's profession raises an interesting question ... what prompted a barber and his wife and child to move from Clinton County, New York, to Franklin County, Vermont, to Monroe County, New York and finally to Detroit, Michigan?
Michael died at age 55 on May 3, 1926 at Harper Hospital in Detroit, leaving his wife Elizabeth a widow. Michael's cause of death was given as "Uremia, with Chronic Nephritis and Chronic Myocarditis contributing," per his Death Certificate. Uremia is a dangerous condition where the kidneys are no longer properly filtering waste products.
