The search continues for sons born to Robert Henry Bell and Rebecca Colley. Probably born in either the Mitcham, Surrey locale or possibly Dublin as Robert Henry Bell was a Lieutenant serving with the Royal Waggoneers. Dates for these births would be between 1796 and 1808. Family history says that these sons were disinherited because they "went to sea" and their father was a strong believer in the British Army. Robert Henry Bell was twenty-six years old when he married Rebecca Colley, so the possibility does exist that he was married previously and that these sons were from an earlier marriage and were left in the care of maternal grandparents, with his wife passing away, while he continued to be engaged in army matters. Births for these sons would therefore pre-date 1796 with an unknown mother but very likely in the Mitcham, Surrey area which was the catchment area for the Royal Waggoneers. Lt Robert Henry Bell was retired on half-pay in 1810 so that any sons from a previous marriage would have been without their natural mother and without a strong tie to their natural father. If the family stories are true and these sons went to sea they could have settled in any of the British Commonwealth possessions. Anyone researching male Bells born as early as 1790 with ties to Mitcham, Surrey may well be the family members I am seeking. Thanks for reading through this. Stephen Bell

Thee Bell "sons" who were born in the late 1790's or early 1880's to Robert Henry Bell and Rebecca Colley went to sea and were lost to the family as to their destination or demise.
