Margaret Ida was born in July 1916 in Lockwood, Saskatchewan. She was the daughter of Hugh Bell and Rhoda Copeland. She was raised on the family farm in the Lockwood area with her sisters, Anna, and twins Bessie and Rhoda 'Mary'. Margaret finished her high school and Normal School in Saskatoon. She taught at Howat and Simpson Schools before entering the Civil Service in Ottawa. She served with the Air Force during World War II. In 1949, she married William 'John' Jones and they raised three sons, Hugh, Evan and Thomas in Mission, British Columbia. Margaret died in September 1997 and was buried in Hatzic Cemetery in Hatzic, British Columbia.
