Backwards! What?

So, I'm trying to clean up a couple profiles, which looks like they got made in a hurry (probably during a Thon) and I'm adding in a biography and primary sources.  Then I find this:

How does one justify this? surprise  (From Family Search)

Holmes. Census • FamilySearch  I tried using a mirror to read it.  I need to brush up on "backwards"wink LOL

I tried paging thru on the Census Schedule, it does appear correctly, too.  But why or how could it get in there as a mirror image?
That's so bizarre! I found the census page on Ancestry, and it's backwards there as well! I feel bad for whoever had to index it....
Ha ha ha! That reminds me when I was in the Army, they taught us to write backward to update those situation boards (where they tracked enemy positions). I already knew how to write backwards, upside down, and unside down and backwards. I was surprised that everyone couldn't do this!

I think most photo editing programs have a function to flip an image horizontally or vertically, so my guess would be that's probably what happened to this one.  Another horizontal flip fixes it.
